You might be looking at your town the wrong way

There’s always more than one way to look at a small town. There’s more than one story or point of view.

This is what gets us in trouble when out of town reporters show up, spend an afternoon or so talking to a few people, then leave. Inevitably, they’ve found, or been steered to, the most negative people. It’s like a law of nature.

Any town can seem Idea Friendly and open, or closed and cranky, depending on who you talk to.

But we do this ourselves, too. We’re so focused on the negativity and opposition that we forget about how far we’ve come. What feels like painfully slow progress to you, looks like the start of a revolution to me.

You’re on the Idea Friendly side. Don’t spend too much time worrying about the people on the other side. More people will gradually come your way. You’re on the right side of history.

If you need more practical steps to survive the negativity and opposition, Deb and I made a 45 minute video on it. You can learn more at SaveYour.Town Negativity video. It goes on sale on June 1.

Keep shaping the future of your town,
Becky
