The most optimistic sign in the world

You’ve seen signs that thank people for their past donations. Let’s put up a sign to thank people for their future donations.

Right next to where you’ll be putting an improvement, put up a sign “This improvement will be funded by your future donations.” For bonus points, also list how they can donate. You can do this in your downtown, along trails, in parks or anywhere you need donations to fund an improvement.

When I visited Castle Rock, Washington, they told me how they received an out-of-the-blue donation. They had started improvements on a walking trail. Since they only had enough money to do part of it, they did what they could pay for at the time. A person walking on the trail asked why it hadn’t been finished, found out it was waiting for donations, so this person donated. Just like that.

There are probably a lot more people who could and would donate if they just thought about it. A “funded by your future donations” sign might be all the reminder they need.

Keep shaping the future of your town,
Becky
